Bulgarian journalist Asen Grigorov passed away after a brief illness, relatives told BTA here Friday. He was among the most recognizable personalities in Bulgarian journalism.
His distinctive style combined analytical sharpness, irony, and a keen sense of the political and social context.
Grigorov's career began in 1988 at Bulgarian National Television (BNT) as the host of Formula 5 youth program and later he became one of the faces of the iconic economic show Plus-Minus.
In 2008, he was among the founders of the independent television channel RE:TV, which presented an alternative to the mainstream media environment.
A producer of the morning show at Nova Television and, together with his wife Sibina Grigorova, a co-host of Life and Other Things author’s program on BNT, Asen Grigorov offered a personal look at politics, the media, and everyday life. Later, the two developed it into a podcast.
In 2020, he founded one of the leading digital outlets in the country, Boulevard Bulgaria.
Asen Grigorov completed numerous specializations, including internships and training at the BBC (London). He received the Bulgarian Media Coalition’s award for ethical journalism.
