This is not a cabinet of Boyko Borissov but a cabinet of Delyan Peevski, Velichie party leader Ivelin Mihaylov told journalists in the National Assembly on Friday.
Boyko Borissov leads the GERB party, the dominant force in the coalition government. Delyan Peevski chairs the Movement for Rights and Freedoms – New Beginning and allegedly pulls the strings of the nominal powerholders.
Mihaylov made the comment after a failed no-confidence vote against the government of Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov, held earlier on Friday. Proposed by Vazrazhdane and supported by Velichie and MECh, the vote was 54 in favour and 130 against.
On Thursday, Velichie moved for a fourth no-confidence vote against the Zhelyazkov government over what the party sees as a “failure in the policy on environmental protection.” Mihaylov now commented that Velichie’s motion still stands, despite the failure of the Vazrazhdane vote, which was on the topic of fiscal policy. Velichie’s proposal is supported by the signatures of Vazrazhdane and MECh. It is expected to be considered by the National Assembly next week.
According to Mihaylov, Velichie’s proposal is on a much more important topic. “We will make a 10-minute video presentation to show the people what is really going on in Bulgaria,” he said.
